The Frederick County Beekeeping Association was well represented at the 2025 Great Frederick Fair last week. This is our biggest outreach event of the year.

Club members taught fairgoers about Beekeeping, the honeybee, and products of the hive. FCBA club members even taught kids how to make Beeswax candles that they could take home with them, and they had a “Kids table” where kids could dispense pollinator seeds into a seed packet to plant at their homes.
Educational handouts were available, and Fair personnel reported that 5000 kids were expected to attend the fair during the week as an educational field trip from various Frederick County Schools.
As always, our observation hive was a huge attraction. It allowed fairgoers the opportunity to locate the “Queen Bee” and showed fairgoers live bees in action from a safe location.
The FCBA’s mission is to educate and advocate for responsible beekeeping, and our presence at the fair helped us do so.
FCBA club members also offered honey sticks for sale and jars of raw, natural honey collected from apiaries located throughout Frederick County.
